Sino Estates Management Limited won the Smart Technology Excellence Award for a chiller enhancement project at Olympian City 3 shopping mall.  By leveraging artificial intelligence and big data analytics, the central system could adjust the optimal chiller operation mode, and improve the energy efficiency. It is estimated to reduce approximately 10% of the electricity consumption in a year.

The winning organisations have demonstrated innovative green practices and smart business solutions, contributing to a greener and smarter city, despite the ever-changing economic environment. As an energy partner, CLP is committed to continuously promoting its green and energy-saving initiatives with customers in supporting the Government to strive to achieve carbon neutrality before 2050.

The Opening Ceremony of the Jockey Club BEAM Plus in Schools Project (the Project) was held on 29 January 2021 to mark the official launch of the Project.

Honourable guests including, Mr WONG Kam-sing, Secretary for the Environment, Mr KM CHU, Assistant Director of Electricity and Energy Efficiency, Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, Mr Bryan WONG, Head of Charities (Grant Making), The Hong Kong Jockey Club, Mr Adam KOO, Chief Executive Officer of Business Environment Council Limited (BEC), Ir CS HO, General Manager of BEAM Society Limited (BSL) and Ir Dr Cary CHAN, Executive Director of HKGBC were invited to officiate the Opening Ceremony. Over 200 guests from the public and the school community joined the ceremony online to witness the launch of the Project. 

Funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, organised by BEC and co-organised by the HKGBC and BSL, the Project aims to assist the school sector i.e. 120 primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong (the Schools) in reducing carbon footprint by 10%, promoting the concept of green buildings and carbon reduction to our next generation, and recognising the Schools with BEAM Plus certification.  

In this Project, the HKGBC is going to roll out different educational programmes, such as school talks, green building tours and student ambassador programme to inspire and arouse students’ interest, as well as to assist them to develop their future career in green building. These activities will also be supplemented with various learning materials such as videos, digital games, lecture notes and worksheets in order to facilitate teachers’ in-class training and maximise students’ learning outcomes.   

It is hoped that the Project can set as a good example to the school community in Hong Kong by creating green and sustainable campuses for learning, and also promoting the importance of carbon reduction and relevant behavioural change to students, their family and friends, in order to mitigate climate change altogether.
