Swire Properties recently launched its Sustainability Report 2024 and 2024 Highlights, showcasing the company's successful integration of sustainability across its operations. Key highlights include:
• Global & Regional Recognitions: Secured the No.1 position in the Dow Jones Best-in-Class World Index 2024 (formerly known as Dow Jones Sustainability World Index), achieving the company's Sustainable Development 2030 vision of becoming a global leader in sustainability performance in the real estate industry six years ahead. The company also topped the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index for the 7th consecutive year, maintaining an "AAA" rating.

• Remarkable Progress Towards 1.5°C-aligned Science-Based Targets: Achieved a 40% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions from its 2019 baseline. In addition, it recorded a 54% reduction in Scope 3 emissions intensity from tenants’ operations compared to the 2018 baseline, exceeding its 2030 KPI.
• Sustainable Placemaking & Social Impact Creation: Generated over HKD60 million in social value via the Swire Properties Placemaking Academy ("SPPA") since its launch in 2019. This initiative empowers youth by offering them a chance to design, plan and execute the annual year-end community event – the White Christmas Street Fair.

• Thriving Tenant-Landlord Partnerships: The Green Performance Pledge (GPP) community continues to expand and received participation from 129 tenants, covering 53% of the occupied lettable floor area across Swire Properties' portfolios in Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland. The rollout of the Green Kitchen Initiative 3.0 and the launch of the Green Retail Partnership initiative set new standards for sustainability in the industry.

• Sustainable Finance Growth: The company has issued green bonds totalling approximately HKD6.9 billion, with approximately 70% of bond and loan facilities now financed through green initiatives.
• Robust Integrated Reporting: Swire Properties has published its first integrated Climate and Nature-related Financial Disclosures in accordance with Part D: Climate-related Disclosures of the HKEX ESG Code, ISSB IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures, and TNFD recommendations.

Green Building Award 2025 Is Now Calling for Nominations!

Themed "Towards Carbon Neutrality ∙ Excellence in Sustainable Built Environment", the Green Building Award 2025 (GBA 2025) is now calling for nominations that showcase excellence in driving for a carbon-neutral built environment. Nominations are also open to projects that demonstrate a commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and the adoption of green financing.
The biennial Green Building Award has been jointly organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) and the Professional Green Building Council (PGBC) since 2010, and was inaugurated by the PGBC in 2006. With strong support from the building industry, the award has become a prestigious recognition of outstanding projects and organisations that contribute to a sustainable built environment.
GBA 2025 covers five categories: New Buildings (NB), Existing Buildings (EB), Research & Planning (RP), Building Products & Technologies (BPT), and Green Building Leadership (GBL). All eligible projects and organisations are invited to enter for the chance to sparkle with the best in the green building industry. HKGBC Member Exclusive Green Building Tour to Hang Seng Bank Headquarters

On 24 March 2025, the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) organised its first Green Building Tour of the year to the Hang Seng Bank Headquarters for its Patron Members, in collaboration with Hang Seng Bank, a Gold Patron Member of HKGBC. Attended by around 40 members, the tour offered inspirational insights on this transformative workplace that successfully balances sustainable building practices with employee wellbeing and user experience.
Participants had the opportunity to engage firsthand with innovative activity-based workspaces, vibrant social hubs, and advanced digital facilities that contribute to flexible and efficient work practices. Highlights included the energy-saving chilled ceiling system, the smart data analysis centre, and innovative recycling initiatives such as the AI-powered Eco-Corner waste management station equipped with specialised bins for food waste and lunchbox recycling for plastic and paper containers. These components all collectively underscore Hang Seng Bank's commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and sustainability.



The “Hang Seng Bank Headquarters Workplace Transformation” was the Grand Award Winner of the Green Building Award 2023 in the “Existing Buildings Category: Completed Projects - Commercial”.
