The Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) is dedicated to connecting with global counterparts, unlocking valuable learning and exchange opportunities that empower our members to accelerate green building development. Following the success of last year's study trip to Sydney, the HKGBC is thrilled to announce our Member Exclusive Delegation to Berlin & Hamburg, Germany to be held on 14-18 October 2024 (Mon-Fri), a 5 full-day trip that is supported by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

As a model in the realm of green building development, Germany stands out as a leading force, boasting advanced construction approaches and a commitment to eco-friendly solutions. Backed by the rigorous DGNB Certification System and innovative technique to green buildings, districts and interiors, its vibrant cities – Berlin and Hamburg – offer a wealth of learning opportunities. Berlin, with its history of transformation, has embraced sustainable building design and practices, resulting in buildings with low energy consumption and wise use of resources. Hamburg, home to the exemplar HafenCity development, showcases a large-scale urban regeneration project that prioritises sustainable community living. On this trip, you will have the chance to visit diverse pioneering sustainable projects, engage with local experts, and gain insights into how these German cities are at the forefront of green building innovation. From state-of-the-art technologies to forward-thinking policies, urban planning, design and practices, this itinerary promises to immerse you in the latest sustainable building and infrastructure solutions shaping the future of sustainable development.

Date: 14 – 18 October 2024 (Mon-Fri)
Visiting Cities: Berlin & Hamburg, Germany
Capacity: 35 persons, comprising HKSAR Government Representatives, HKGBC Chairman, Directors and staff, and around 25 seats will be open to HKGBC Members – Patron Members and Institutional Members.

Participation Fee: HK$5,000 per Delegate

The participation fee covers the following:
  • Comprehensive tour arrangement of the 5 full-day trip from 14 to 18 October (Mon-Fri)
  • Lunches during the 5 days, including Networking Luncheon(s) with local counterparts
  • Local transportation between tour locations, including intercity travelling from Berlin to Hamburg
    (coach pick-up and drop-off point: Adina Apartment Hotel Berlin Hackescher Markt in Belin and Adina Apartment Hotel Hamburg Speicherstadt in Hamburg)

Remarks:
  • Each registered participant will receive the confirmation from the HKGBC by 23 August 2024 (Friday)
  • Each delegate needs to pay the participation fee of HK$5,000 to the HKGBC by 6 September 2024 (Friday)
  • The participation fee is non-refundable
  • Delegates are responsible for arranging their own flight, hotel accommodation, travel insurance, etc.
  • Delegates are expected to attend the 5 full-day trip from 14 to 18 October 2024 (Mon-Fri)

Delegates are recommended to arrive in Berlin on 13 October (Sun). The tour is scheduled to start in Berlin at around 9:00am on 14 October (Mon) and end in Hamburg at around 6:00pm on 18 October (Fri).
