Green Building Award 2025 is Calling for Nominations
Towards Carbon Neutrality ∙ Excellence in Sustainable Built Environment

Hong Kong, 13 March 2025 – The Green Building Award (GBA), co-organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) and the Professional Green Building Council (PGBC), in its tenth edition this year, is calling for nominations. Themed "Towards Carbon Neutrality ∙ Excellence in Sustainable Built Environment", the Green Building Award 2025 (GBA 2025) welcomes nominations that showcase your excellence in driving for a carbon-neutral built environment; while demonstrating potentially your commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the adoption of green financing.

Covering five categories, including New Buildings, Existing Buildings, Research & Planning, Building Products & Technologies and Green Building Leadership, the biennial Award is one of the highest accolades in the industry. Special Citation will be accredited to projects that are deemed to have achieved the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals or leveraged Green Financing that positively contribute to the development of a sustainable built environment. 

Online submissions will start from 22 April until 13 June 2025 at 6:00pm (Hong Kong Time). The Organisers welcome all eligible projects or organisations to participate in the GBA 2025 and join hands to contribute to a carbon-neutral built environment. As in previous editions, GBA 2025 will invite a broad base of renowned experts as the Jury Panel, covering Hong Kong government representatives, as well as industry experts and academia from local and overseas. Ms Bernadette LINN, JP, Secretary for Development, the Government of the HKSAR has confirmed to be the Honorary Advisor and the Guest of Honour of the Award Presentation Ceremony.

Additionally, the Award Winners of GBA 2025 will gain an exclusive opportunity to compete for the prestigious World Green Building Council Asia Pacific Leadership in Green Building Awards. This exceptional chance serves as a catalyst to further enhance the prominence of Hong Kong's exceptional leadership in green building development on a regional scale. It is widely acknowledged that such opportunities foster enhanced collaborations across diverse industries and regions, laying a strong foundation for a sustainable and net-zero future for the coming generations.

About the Green Building Award 2025 (GBA 2025)
The biennial Green Building Award is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) and the Professional Green Building Council (PGBC) since 2010 and was inaugurated by the PGBC in 2006. The Award aims to recognise nominations which go beyond the conventional practice, stretch their boundaries in advancing sustainability, and are capable of inspiring the next generation on how our future built environment could be.

About the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC)
The Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) is a non-profit, member-led organisation established in 2009 and has become a public body under the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance since 2016. The HKGBC strives to promote the standard and development of sustainable buildings in Hong Kong. The HKGBC also aims to raise green building awareness by engaging the government, the industry and the public, and to develop practical solutions for Hong Kong’s unique, subtropical built environment of high-rise, high density urban area, leading Hong Kong to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and to become a world’s exemplar of green building development. About the Professional Green Building Council (PGBC)
The Professional Green Building Council (PGBC) was formed in 2002 by the Founding Members including The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), The Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects (HKILA) and The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS). The Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP) joined the PGBC in 2005.
